International Association Network meets live for the first time in Flanders since COVID-19
On September 6 and 7, the ICCA France Benelux Chapter Summit took place in Hasselt, Belgian Limburg. It was a special edition, because the Summit was the first live international event in Flanders for the sector since the outbreak of COVID-19. The hunger was big, as evidenced by the turnout: 60 professionals attended live, while others experienced the event online.
This summit was hosted by BLCB (Belgian Limburg Convention Bureau) and VISITFLANDERS Convention Bureau. The moderation was in the professional hands of Kai Troll, President of ASSOCIATIONWORLD. The theme of the congress - "The Art of Reinvention" - referred to the impact of the corona crisis. How did the convention industry reinvent itself to weather the pandemic?
CERM and CIRM conquer the world
VISITFLANDERS Convention Bureau overcame the transition by developing CERM (COVID Event Risk Model) and CIRM (COVID Infrastructure Risk Model). Both tools allow organizers to set up a congress or event that fully complies with the applicable COVID measures. The models are so successful that they have been adopted by countries worldwide.
Digital platform HYBR for conferences in Flanders
In addition, VISITFLANDERS Convention Bureau developed a new digital platform for hybrid congresses and events: HYBR. This platform was developed in cooperation with and&, the Leuven Innovation Festival and Technopolis, the Flemish center for science and technology.
Unlike platforms that focus exclusively on the digital, and that are often a hodgepodge of existing tools, HYBR provides a seamless experience to participants, speakers, partners and sponsors. The platform focusses on stimulating in-dept connections between participants.
HYBR is available to associations organizing a hybrid conference in Flanders.
Flanders Heritage Venues
BLCB (Belgian Limburg Convention Bureau) and VISITFLANDERS Convention Bureau ensured the experience within the framework of the ICCA France Benelux Chapter Summit. The program included a visit to the impressive venues of Thor Central and the Open Air Museum Bokrijk.
Both sites belong to the group of "Flanders Heritage Venues", a series of congress locations which combine a unique experience and architecture with a location near attractive tourist assets of Flanders. Thor Central is located in the magnificent industrial complex of a former coal mine. From there, numerous impressive experiences are possible, such as cycling through the water in Bokrijk, once voted "one of the world's greatest places" by TIME Magazine.
